Jo Malone Myrrh & Tonka Dupe

Myrrh & Tonka Perfume

Some people try to impress with flashes of chrome and glass; you prefer the glow of a fireplace and the weight of a heavy book. Myrrh & Tonka is for "The Golden Soul." When you wear this, you become the person who exudes a natural, effortless warmth. It’s for the person who is approachable yet elite, carrying an aura of quiet luxury that makes everyone around them feel instantly at ease.

What it Actually Smells Like

This isn't just a perfume; it’s a Vibe. It smells like "Old Money" on a winter holiday.

  • The First Hit: It opens with a dry, clean snap of Lavender. But this isn't "soap" lavender; it’s the scent of dried herbs in a sun-drenched field. It’s calming, sophisticated, and immediately clears the mental clutter.

  • The Heart: Then, the Omumbiri Myrrh enters. This is a "noble" resin, it’s smoky, slightly sweet, and incredibly rich. It gives the scent a "temple-like" depth that feels ancient and expensive.

  • The Deep Dry Down: This is the addictive part. It settles into a creamy, nutty cloud of Tonka Bean, Almond, and Vanilla. It smells like toasted sugar and smooth wood. It’s the kind of scent that makes people want to lean in just a little bit closer.

The Experience

  •  It’s a "Velvet" fragrance. It feels like a high-end camel hair coat. It is a true unisex icon, it has a "rugged sweetness" that smells like a vintage library on a man, and a "smoky elegance" on a woman.
  • Jo Malone’s version is a classic, but in my Northamptonshire shop, I’ve focused on the creaminess. I’ve balanced the smoky myrrh against a higher quality Tonka to ensure it feels smooth from start to finish. I’ve engineered this to be "Intense" without being "Aggressive."
  • This is for the person who wants a "Signature" that feels like a hug but looks like a suit. It’s for the minimalist who wants maximum impact.
  • This is a scent that lives in the fabric of your life. To make the glow last even longer, layer it with our Body Elixir. It turns the fragrance into a second skin, creating an immersive, golden aura that follows you from your morning coffee to your midnight toast.

The Truth

Most "warm" perfumes are just sugary. Myrrh & Tonka is sophisticated. It’s for the person who knows that true luxury doesn't need to shout to be heard. If you’re ready to smell like the best, most relaxed version of yourself, this is your bottle.

  • It's important to spritz your fragrance on the areas of the body that are naturally warm,  such as your wrists, the nape of your neck, behind your knees, behind your ear, and inside your elbows.

Resist rubbing your wrists together. Fragrance should sit on the skin to mix with your natural oils, rubbing wrists together breaks down the top notes which means they will fade and evaporate quickly.

Fragrance binds to the oils in your skin, so applying it after your body oil creates a better surface for the scent molecules to bind to.

If like me you like to spritz your clothes then go for it, just remember that it's a different olfactory experience than when you correctly apply perfume to your skin.

Rule of thumb: If you can wash the fabric, then spritz away, just be careful of the delicate fabrics & some perfumes may stain!
